James Hardie, the global leader in the development of fiber cement building products and related building systems, turned to Merge to completely overhaul their digital presence.

To meet their needs, Merge performed a comprehensive CMS analysis, developed UI/UX that engages and inspires on a personal level and ultimately delivered a fully responsive Kentico implementation.

But to really move the brand forward, we needed to push beyond the typical trade-focused, rational approach so common in the industry. We needed to connect with homeowners through their hearts and link the passion they have for their home with James Hardie.

CMS, UI & CONTENT AUDIT

After thorough evaluation, we determined the Kentico EMS platform was the best fit for James Hardie’s current and anticipated needs. A comprehensive UI and content audit of the old site yielded insights to restructure site content in a way that would give users the tools to feel confident about design and style choices for their home.

CONSUMER JOURNEY

The new experience takes a holistic look at the complete consumer buying journey, and provides fluid workflow paths that enable users to reach critical conversion points with ease. By tapping into what excites and inspires them, we expedite the process, getting users into the sales pipeline and decision phase sooner.

LEADER IN COLOR

James Hardie has always been known for a durable, high-performance product. As we took on more of a consumer focus, it was increasingly important that we also establish them as a leader in design and color. We did this by not just showing product color options, but by presenting the James Hardie color palette through an emotive, lifestyle lens.

COLOR DASHBOARD

To bring more dimension to the proprietary color palette of the product line, we created dashboards that combined emotional, editorial and factual content for each individual color.

GEO-TARGETED CATALOG

Because the James Hardie product line varies regionally, we implemented geo-targeting to ensure users get relevant product information based on where they live.

DIGITAL BRAND GUIDANCE

Merge devised a modular strategy to enable James Hardie to create new mobile-responsive templates on the fly from within the CMS. Together the device-agnostic components offer admins tons of flexibility to present content across the device spectrum. Merge also created a new digital brand guide, designed to leverage existing brand equity while modernizing the company’s face to the consumer and tradespeople across all digital touchpoints.
